Hi Friends!
I’m so excited to FINALLY be sharing our Farmhouse Laundry Room Makeover with you today! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I’ve been working on this space for quite some time now. To say I am thrilled with how it came together would be the understatement of the century!
I started out by hanging the peel & stick subway tile wallpaper you see here. Yes, peel & stick! Can you believe it? It was so easy to hang too! You can find it HERE. One roll was just enough to do the wall behind the washer and dryer. This wallpaper was not recommended for textured walls, but our walls do have a little texture to them and I found that it still worked well. You can see in some of the photos, that the texture just comes through the faux tile a little bit here & there. That doesn’t bother me at all.
After installing the wallpaper, I took a sample of it and had it color matched at our local home improvement store to paint the rest of the room. I applied it to the walls above the board and batten and then gave the board and batten a fresh coat of white, semi-gloss trim paint as well. The board and batten was installed the last time I made over this space and I still love the way it looks. If you’d like to see how we did it, you can check out THIS POST. The curtains for this room are the same curtains we had in our previous laundry room. I painted the stripes on them a few years back using painter’s tape. I just repainted them to match the room better. I also spray painted the curtain rod and drape hooks to white to blend in with the window.
I also ordered some custom signs for this room from my good friends at Heartland Roots. If you are a Murphysboro, or Southern Illinois native, you’ve probably heard of them. They have a brick and mortar location right next door to my boutique. They do custom orders and always deliver with quality work. They made the sign you see here (which just so happens to cover up my ugly electrical panel – yay!) and the other sign above my washer and dryer as well. I absolutely LOVE them!!
For the shelves, I bought an 8 foot, inexpensive board at Lowes and then cut it to the size I wanted. I stained the boards with Minwax Special Walnut to match the frames of the signs that Heartland Roots created for me. Then, I installed the shelves with super cheap L brackets that I purchased at Walmart. I think they were around $2 each. The wall sconces are from Wayfair and I couldn’t love them more! You can find them HERE. I used Nesting with Grace’s “Magic Light Trick” for these. They are not hardwired, but have a battery powered puck light inside of them instead.
The little olive trees you see on the bottom shelf were a quick & easy DIY project. The black shiplap photo frame was purchased at Kohl’s. I tried to find it on their website, but didn’t have any luck. I did however, buy it within the last month or so. Therefore, maybe it’s still available in-store only.
Decorating the shelves above the washer and dryer was fun & easy to do after scoring some cute & unexpected finds, like this “supplies” decorative tin. The color was perfect and you won’t believe where I found it! Dollar General! Our local store just underwent a makeover recently and they have some really cute decorative items from time to time. You just have to take the time to look!
I also snagged these glass jars on clearance at Hobby Lobby and thought they would be perfect for holding our detergent and some decorative clothes pins.
Another thing that totally transformed this room was the peel & stick floor tile! I couldn’t be happier with it. I decided to go with this tile after seeing a couple of my favorite bloggers/Instagrammers use it. (Be sure to check out Proverbs 31 Girl’s Camper Remodel and Fancy Farm Girls’ Laundry Room Reveal.) They are the FloorPops brand and I ordered mine through Walmart. You can find them HERE. They were super easy to install and for about $50, I had a brand new floor!
If you’d like more of a step-by-step process of how I transformed this room, be sure to follow me on Instagram! You can find all of the info in my “Laundry Room” highlight tab! There is also a tutorial for the olive trees there as well as more info on the “Magic Light Trick.” 🙂
I hope you enjoyed the tour of my new Farmhouse Laundry Room! As always, thank you so much for stopping by! I really appreciate each and everyone of you who takes the time to read and follow along!
