Happy Monday Friends!
I’m so excited to be back this week to share our Black & White Fall Porch with you! I’ve been working on this space for several weeks now and after making a few finishing touches, it’s finally blog ready! To say that I am in love with how it all came together would be an understatement!
What do you think? Do you love it too?
I normally go with more traditional fall colors on our porch this time of year, but I decided to switch things up a bit. It all started with this layered doormat. I snagged the buffalo plaid rug in the fall decor section of Hobby Lobby several weeks back. I’m pretty sure they are sold out of them now. 😔 It’s not really an outdoor rug, but our front porch is pretty well covered. It has gotten dirty once, but I have just threw it in the washer and it washed up beautifully. The “Our Nest” doormat is also from Hobby Lobby.
I also picked up this “Simply Blessed” sign at Hobby Lobby as well. Again, this is not considered an outdoor piece, but I don’t care. I’ve been hanging indoor wall art in this little space for a while now and it typically does pretty well. They do tend to fade a little over time, but I would imagine spraying it with a protective sealer would help with that. By the time the fading starts, it’s usually time for me to swap it out with a new piece of art! 🙂
I mean……😍 😍 😍.
The black & white buffalo plaid theme is so “in” right now, that finding pieces for the porch was pretty easy to do. They only thing I couldn’t find was a wreath that I really liked. So, naturally, I decided to make one.
I started with a grapevine wreath and then just added some greenery, then I added a few fall picks & florals, some white pumpkins, and a buffalo plaid bow to tie it all together. I’ll be sharing a more detailed tutorial with you next week. Stay tuned!
I pulled out my “Happy Fall Y’all” Chalkboard from a few years back. I felt like I needed something with a little more height in this corner and the colors worked perfectly. The design for the chalkboard came from a free printable I got from Nest of Posies blog. For a tutorial on how to transfer the printable design onto the chalkboard, click HERE. The chalkboard itself, is from Kirkland’s.
In sticking with the black & white theme, I picked up some white mums. I wanted some new containers to put them in, so I picked up these white metal olive buckets from Hobby Lobby. I didn’t actually plant the mums inside of the metal buckets. (They aren’t made to be planters.) I just placed the pots that the mums came in down inside the bucket. When it’s time to water the mums, I take them out of the metal buckets, let them dry a bit and then place them back inside. This will prevent the metal buckets from rusting. 😊
I found these black lanterns 50% off at Hobby Lobby last week and decided I had to have them. My mom made the black & white gingham bows and they added just the right touch! I have the candles on a timer at night, so they give off a pretty glow at night.
The pumpkins that I have on the porch were all painted. I picked them up at Walmart in their faux pumpkins section. The small one was $2.98 and the larger ones were $5.98. Then I just painted them with acrylic craft paint. Last week I shared a tutorial on how to paint the buffalo plaid pumpkins. If you missed that post, you can check it out HERE.
Do you remember our mailbox makeover we did a few years back? It’s still holding up well and I love decorating it with the change of seasons. And because I was having so much fun decorating the porch, I decided to give the mailbox a little love as well. I filled the flower box with some white mums, pinecones, a few neutral fall picks and an assortment of black & white pumpkins. The vinca vine was left over from my summer flowers and I thought it worked well with the arrangement, so I decided to leave it.
I really like how the mailbox coordinates with the porch. ❤️
And speaking of coordinating……
I picked up this flag at The Apple Tree gift shop here in downtown Murphysboro. The Apple Tree is located right across the street from our shop! I saw this flag hanging in her window a couple days after I picked up my buffalo plaid doormat and knew that I had to have it! Isn’t it perfect?
Well, that completes the tour! I hope you enjoyed our Black & White Fall Porch! If you did, I’d love for you to share it with your friends! Just “pin” it to your Pinterest board or share the link on Facebook! 😚
As always, thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you all have a great week!
