DIY Rope Name Art

Hey Friends!!

Happy Wednesday to you all!

I hope you are having a great week!

A couple weeks ago, I shared Parker’s Western/Cowboy Themed Birthday Party.   One of my favorite things about the party was the DIY Rope Name Art I created for the cake table. It was such a nice, personalized touch to the party decor & went perfectly with the western theme. Many of you were interested in how I made it, so I thought I would share a step-by-step tutorial with you today!  Sound okay?!

Using some old pallet wood that I got from a friend, my dad created this make-shift pallet for me. Since the rope was more of a natural color, I knew that I would have to stain the pallet in order for the rope name to really show up.

So, I grabbed some stain that I already had & got to work. I started off by applying the stain to the pallet with a clean rag, but ended up switch over to a foam brush about have way through due to the mess! So much easier!

Once my pallet was stained, I turned to PicMonkey to create the pattern for Parker’s name. I chose the “Learning Curve” font. Then I saved my design & printed it out.

In order to get the name onto the pallet, I used my mom’s projector. She bought it at Hobby Lobby a couple years ago & it has come in so handy!!  We have used it for numerous projects!  If you are interested, you can find more information HERE.

Anyway….I placed the printed design under the projector & projected it onto the pallet. (Note: It doesn’t matter how small or how large the printed design is, you can change the size of it using the projector in order to get the desired size later.)  You can’t actually see the name projected on the pallet in these photos because I had to turn off the lights & close the curtains in order to be able to see it…that part was a little hard to photograph! 🙂

Once I had the name projected in the size I wanted, I just started tracing it with the rope. I adhered the rope to the pallet using hot glue and only cut the rope when needed. (You can find the rope that I used HERE.)

Here is what it looked like when I was finished!

This project was SO EASY to complete and I am still smitten with how it turned out! If you are throwing a cowboy/western themed party, you must give it a try! It will make your cake/food table extra cute & your guests will surely be impressed! 🙂

I’m half tempted to change the theme in the boy’s bedroom just so I can recycle mine! 🙂
