Literally, I could have spent hours at this market! The colors of the produce, the gorgeous fresh flowers, the beautiful displays….I was like a moth to a flame when it came to snapping pictures! I had so much fun with my camera that day! There was just so much eye candy to take in!! What better way to capture all of that than with some beautiful photos?!
Pike Place Market has been in operation for more than a century & is rich in Seattle history! It first opened in August of 1907 & had just 8 farmers on that first day. They brought their wagons full of produce to the market & were greeted by an estimated 10,000 shoppers!
Over a hundred years later, the market is internationally known as America’s premier farmers’ market. It houses more than 200 year round commercial businesses, 190 craftspeople and approximately 100 farmers who rent space daily!
The market attracts around 10 million visitors a year & is consider one of Washington state’s most frequently visited destinations!
And after visiting & experiencing it first hand, I can TOTALLY see why! If I lived in the Seattle area, I would probably visit every weekend! There is just SO MUCH to see & take in!! How gorgeous are all of these floral arrangements?! It would be worth a trip to the market just to pick up some fresh flowers for our home week after week!
p.s. How cute are those lights above the flower arrangements?! LOVE!!!
The colors of EVERYTHING in the market were just so vibrant! I think I could have sat & admired these little baskets of berries for days!! I bet they tasted as good as they looked too!!
I love all of the shades of purple in this photo…..
Isn’t it beautiful?! I was so completely smitten with the lavender display….
If fresh seafood is what you’re after, the market is probably your best bet! It offers a wide selection of fresh & local seafood to meet all your hearts desire…..
Keeping these pictures to a minimum…..let’s face it, there’s nothing real pretty about fresh fish (at least not in my opinion!) I couldn’t leave it out of the post because it really is a big attraction at the market!
If you have ever watched at tourism show about Seattle you may have seen the vendors actually throwing the fish for the consumers to catch! You can mostly certainly do that here at the market as long as you are willing to pay for it & take it home! 🙂
The streets are lined with more beautiful flowers. You will also find a a large variety of restaurants & shops.
Bring your camera, your appetite, & enjoy the scenery….
You are sure to have a wonderful time!!!
I know we certainly did!!!

your pictures are gorgeous, Tonya! Looks like a beautiful place!
I grew up in Lynden,WA and lived there till about 4 years ago. I worked as a cheesemaker in Ferndale and every Sat. I would head down to Seattle to make cheese deliveries, mainly to other area farmers markets. One of my favorite places when I went to the Pike Place Market was to go to the cheese store there which is across the street from the main market. Another favorite place to head when I was there was to the original Starbuck’s coffee shop also across the street from the main market. Glad you enjoyed your trip to the Pacific Northwest, it truly is a beautiful area!
Beautiful Pictures!

Thanks for the information… I really love your blog posts… specially those on Celebrity corporate club
I have enjoyed your photos from the market. It brings back wonderful memories of my hubby and my trip there. We had such fun with the “fish toss” hah They almost scared a lady to death with the fake fish hah I love peonies and I could not believe the bounty they had for sale there. Your photos are so clear and beautiful.
