I shared with you guys a few weeks back all of the pictures from Griffin’s Sock Monkey Party
and talked about how the tissue paper pom poms were my favorite part of the party decor….
They are such a cheap way to add such a big impact to your party!!
Here are a few images I found on Pinterest to give you an even better idea of the possibilites….

Cute, right?!
When I wrote up the Sock Monkey Recap post I had promised a tutorial this project, so I thought I would go ahead & share that today! I know its been 3 weeks….better late than never, right?!
I just started with a 99 cent package of tissue paper, 10 sheets thick…
I wanted the smaller version of the pom-poms, so I cut the tissue paper in half. If you want the larger ones, skip this step!
Once you have the sheets cut in half you just start folding the tissue paper back & forth accordion style (kinda like you are making a fan) until you have something that looks like this….
Then you just take a piece of wire to secure the center section of the tissue paper together. Floral wire works great, but if you are in a pinch….you can use a bread tie….I know this from experience! 🙂
Once the center section is secure you just start lifting up each piece of tissue paper seperately on each side….
It should look like this about half way through….
And you just keep lifting & separating until you run out of sheets!
Your pom-pom should look like this when you done!
Then you just hang the pom-poms from the ceiling!
You want to use something that is kinda see through…like fishing line, etc.
I actually just used some white thread that I had laying around the house to hang mine. It worked pretty well & wasn’t very visible!
So for very little money, make a big impact to your party by trying this project!!
It sure to add a “cuteness” factor to your decor & will certainly wow your guests!!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!!
Thanks for stopping by!! 🙂

  1. […] For the cupcake display, I just used two cardboard boxes & wrapped them with a plain silver wrapping paper that I purchased at Walmart. I always like add the party printables to the boxes to coordinate with the rest of the decor. The white table cloth used for the cake table was actually just a twin size, flat white sheet also purchased at Walmart for just $5.00. The chevron fabric was purchased at Hobby Lobby. I love the color  & pattern that it added to the table. And last but not least, the tissue paper pom-pons hanging from the ceiling add the finishing touches to the display. My mom was gracious enough to help me decorate for the shower. She made the pom-pons for me. If you’d like a tutorial, you can click HERE. […]
