Hey Friends!

I hope you all are doing well. I had plans of getting a new post to the blog during the month of February, but somehow the month just got away from me. I’m blaming it on the fact that it’s only 28 days long! Lol! Anyway, I am dropping in today because I have something that I wanted to share with you all. A couple weeks back I participated in a “Tabletop Tour” benefitting Murphysboro Main Street. The event was a fundraiser for the organization which has just recently reformed & reorganized. They are looking to do great things for downtown Murphysboro, but of course things like that take money! That was how the “Tabletop Tour” came to fruition. Being a business owner on mainstreet, you can probably imagine that I was excited about the event and was looking forward to participating!

I wanted to create a tablescape that reflected my personal style, but also mimicked some of the items available in our shop. Murphysboro is a very hometown proud kind of city. We sell a ton of Murphysboro merchandise week in & week out at our store. Unfortunately, we don’t really carry any items that would necessarily work for a tablescape, but that didn’t stop us from running with the idea! So without further ado, here is a look at our Murphysboro, Industrial Farmhouse Spring Tablescape!

I knew I wanted to stick with a somewhat neutral color palate, so we started our tablescape with white table linens & white dishes. In order to incorporate the industrial farmhouse theme, we brought in galvanized metal chargers, an galvanized olive bucket, & a galvanized metal tray which would house the different components of our centerpiece. I also fell in love with this black & white gingham fabric and felt that it fully encompassed the farmhouse look.

If you guys have followed along for a while, especially on our Facebook page, you know that Murphysboro is an apple town. Each year in September, our annual Apple Festival brings thousands of people into our small town of about 8,000 people. For that reason, we decided apples were also a must for our tablescape.

To stick with our neutral color palate, we decided to go with green apples since they tied in nicely with the greenery throughout the floral centerpiece. I bought these faux green apples at Hobby Lobby. I love the little pop of color they give to the table. I think the green adds more of a spring feel as well.

In order to add the the apples in with the floral arrangement, we just used some wooden skewers. We basically just stuck one end of the skewer into the apple & the other end into the floral foam at the bottom of the olive basket. We used faux white roses, faux white hydrangeas, and a few berries to make a simple, but stunning floral centerpiece.

And because Murphysboro was once know for their apple orchards and because it worked perfectly with our color scheme, I added this little “Eat Fresh, Buy Local” sign into the tray as well. The distressed wood frame also contrasts nicely with the galvanized metal pieces.

Then we just added some black candlesticks & these battery powered, flameless candles to complete our centerpiece. I just love how it all came together!

We have a few items in the shop with the Murphysboro zip code on them. For that reason, I thought it would be fun to incorporate the 62966 to the tablescape as well. My mom whipped up these adorable placemats and my sister was nice enough to cut out the zip codes with her Cricut while she was home visiting. We simply ironed the vinyl on. There were several people who asked if these would be available in-store and I think, due to the number of requests, my mom maybe working on that!

Speaking of my talented mama, she found these wood apples at Walmart. They were unfinished when she bought them. She just painted them to coordinate with the tablescape colors and then hot glued a piece of jute twine to the back of them. The jute was then tied around the black & white gingham napkins to make super cute & super easy napkin rings!

And because no tablescape is complete without glassware, I whipped up these Murphysboro glasses the night before the event using some plain, inexpensive glasses I found at Walmart. I had my friend & neighbor, Brandi Ward (owner at Heartland Roots) cut out the Murphysboro, Illinois logo for me. Then I just transferred the vinyl onto the glasses. They were a great last minute addition to the table!

I have lots of photos from the event that I would still like to share. I’m hoping to put together a second post very soon featuring some of the other beautiful tablescapes that were on display that day. Each table was so unique & different! Stay tuned!
