Patio Makeover {My Mom’s House}

Hey Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Last month while I was busy working on our back deck makeover, my mom & dad were busy with a little makeover of their own. They transformed the side of their home & I’m so excited to share the details with you today!

It turned out beautifully, don’t ya think?!

To get an idea as to how this space started, let’s take a look at the “before” pictures. Shall we?!

You can see the side entrance to their home in the upper left hand corner of the photo. This is the entrance that most of their guests use & the main reason for this makeover. They wanted to give their guests a good first impression!

When they first bought the house, the entrance you see in the photo, was actually the entrance for the attached garage. Shortly after buying the home, they remodeled & turned the garage into a family room. They then built a separate detached garage later on. The air conditioner was also located on this side of the home. My dad relocated the AC unit to the back of the home just a couple months back, in preparation for this makeover. When these photos were taken, the makeover was already in progress. My parents hired some professionals to come & engrave & also stain the concrete as part of the makeover. You can see where the engraving had already been completed in the photo.

Here is another “before” pic. You can see how the air conditioner has been moved to the back of the house.

Once the engraving was complete, the concrete was the stained & sealed. Here are some close-up, detailed shots.

I really love the way the concrete turned out. The engraving/staining really added so much character to the space & was quite the improvement from the once, boring, gray, concrete pad.

Once the concrete was finished, then it was time for my mom to work her magic on the space!  And work it, she did….

The furniture (couch, chairs, & coffee table) for the patio was purchased at Big Lots. It was the perfect size for the space & really affordable too.

Not only that, but my parents are super pleased with the quality as well. All of the pieces are very sturdy & seem to be holding up really well.

The furniture couch & chairs came with seat cushions, but they were red. My mom was wanting to stick with a black, brown, & tan color scheme, so she just purchased some outdoor fabric from JoAnn’s & recovered the seat cushions. She also added some throw pillows as well.

The wall hangings you see here were purchased at Hobby Lobby. To hang them, my parents drilled into the siding. The pieces serve as “wall art” for the space.

Everything you see in this corner of the patio were things she already had. The screen was purchased at Lowes a couple years back. The welcome sign was purchased at Kirkland’s (also a couple years ago.) I love the large flower pot she has in this corner. It is so lush & beautiful, filled with a mixture of annuals & perennials.

The little candle holder you see here was also something she already had on hand. She couldn’t recall where she bought it.

The tall thing you see in this corner of the space was actually something my dad picked up at Rural King. He worked there for a few months & brought this home to my mom, knowing that she could repurpose it. It was a wind chime display at the store.

Another shot of my mom’s beautiful flowers. I just love the pops of pink they bring to this otherwise neutral space.

The outdoor rug was a Walmart find. I really like how it helps to define the space & make it feel more like an outdoor room!

So, that pretty much wraps up the tour….

I hope you enjoyed it! 🙂
