Happy Friday Y’all!!
I thought I would do another InstaFriday post just to kinda show you what we’ve been up to this summer!
I told you in my post on Tuesday, that I’ve been a little bummed about school starting again! It seems like summer came & went in the blink of an eye! Am I right?! Everyone is shopping for school supplies & getting ready for another year while I’m in complete denial! I don’t know about you, but I’m hanging on to these last few days as long as I can!!
We started off our summer with another fun season of tee-ball. Parker improved so much this year & is turning into quite the little ball player! We had so much fun watching him & his team play!
We’ve also been spending a TON of time on the lake this summer!
My parents and my aunt & uncle went in together & bought a pontoon boat last year and we’ve been taking full advantage of it! We’ve also been having some beautiful weather here in Southern Illinois which makes hanging on the lake even more enjoyable! We have actually had a pretty mild summer in comparison to summers past. It is usually so humid that you can’t even stand to be outside! This year however, we’ve had several weeks of REALLY NICE weather! I even had to wear a jacket on July 4th to watch fireworks!! I can’t tell you the last time that happened!
The boys have had an absolute blast on the boat this year! Parker has turned into a total fish & Griffin has gotten used to swimming in the lake with his life jacket. They are both so good about wearing their life jackets! We are usually on the boat for hours at a time & they never complain or ask to take them off! I guess it’s because they are too busy having fun! 🙂
When we aren’t on the boat, but still needing to beat the heat, we head over to my in-laws house to swim! We are so fortunate to be able to use their pool! They only live about 5 minutes from our house….so nice & so convenient! Not to mention, the boys love going over to visit grandma & grandpa!
Last Friday, we took a short drive down to Cape Girardeau and went to Cape Splash water park. It is such a nice place to go with the family! The park is super clean & really inexpensive! I think we paid just $22 admission for the four of us! We visited the water park last year, but made the mistake of going on a Saturday. It was super crowded! So, this year we decided to go down on a weekday instead & it was perfect!! The boys had so much fun that I think we are gonna try to squeeze in one more trip before school starts back up again!
If you have little ones at home, then you probably know that there have been a ton of animated movies that have come out in recent weeks. I took Parker to see “Monsters University” a few weeks ago & then all four of us went & saw “Turbo” this past weekend. It was Griffin’s first time to see a movie on the big screen & he LOVED it!!  Now he is asking when we are going to go see “Despicable Me 2.” Go figure!
I’ve been trying to exercise as much as I can this summer & have been doing the couch to 5K program. I used the program last summer & was able to run a few 5K’s in the fall. Coming from someone who used to HATE running, this is a pretty big deal! The program is really easy to follow & I’ve really enjoyed doing it! Parker has asked me several times if he can going running with me & I’ve always told him “no” because I never thought he would be able to keep up. However, this past week, he INSISTED on running with me, so I finally let him.
Let me tell you….this boy proved me wrong!! Each workout lasts for about 30 minutes, and although he didn’t make it for the full 30 minutes, he did run with me, step for step, for the first 15! Not too bad for his first time out! If he can keep it up, he might just be able to run a 5K by the end of the year with me! I’d love to have a little running buddy!
And Griffin……
Well, this boy is a bowl of laughs every.single.day!
I took the pictures above one night while we were hanging out on the back deck. He was “shooting bad guys” while using his underwear as a holster & wearing my sunglasses! Crack me up!
Because he is home with me most days, he is pretty much a momma’s boy. I feel like he has grown up so much this summer. He is talking so well & constantly adding new words & phrases to his vocabulary. He will be turning 3 in the next few weeks, which totally blows my mind! It seems not long ago that I was pregnant!
We have been potty training for quite some time now. And although he has been doing pretty well going #1 on the potty, going #2 has been a different story! Â Well, at least until this past Tuesday……
And I’m not sure how mommy feels about that!
Don’t get me wrong…I’m thrilled to not have to change anymore poopy diapers, but really, I just assume you stay my baby forever! 🙂
What have you been up to this summer?!Â
Are you ready for the new school year or are you in denial like me?!

What a fun summer! There are a few similarities to ours with swimming, the kids’ movies, running, and a little boy doing crazy things in his underwear : ) Although, we’re often lucky if the underwear are even on! I guess that’s life with a little boy.
*** I love your hair!
