Hey Everyone!!
Hope you all are having a great week!
I thought I would give you a little tutorial on how I made the chalkboard for our
I found this little mirror at Goodwill for $5.00…
It was a little dirty as you can see, but I like the shape of it & I knew I could turn it into something cute!
I started by taking the mirror out of the frame & cleaning it off a bit…
Then I gave it a couple coats of primer using a 3″ foam roller to prep it for the chalkboard paint.
Once the primer was dry, I used my Krylon Chalkboard Spray paint to give the mirror the chalkboard finish.
I love this stuff!
I have used it on several projects & I’m still using the same can. Just a couple of coats of this spray paint on just about any surface will give you the nicest little chalkboard!
As for the frame, I sanded it down a bit & then gave it a coat of primer, followed by a coat of paint. I painted it the same blue color that I painted the dresser (which I will share with you in another post) & the shelving in my closet. The color is a Valspar color I found at Lowes called “Sparkling Lake.”
After I was finished painting, I put the my chalkboard back into its frame & hung it on my wall above the dresser in the closet.
And I just love the way it looks!
Now, I know some of you are probably thinking…
“Why would anyone need a chalkboard in their closet?”
I know it sounds a little weird, but I thought that since this is a space that my husband & I share, that it may be a fun little message center where we can write little notes back & forth to one another.
I also thought it might be neat to write Bible verses on it each week, to give us something to
think about & meditate on from day to day.
So, that’s my reasoning!! 🙂
Hope you all enjoyed this little tutorial!
Thanks for stopping by!
