Hey Friends!
I hope you all had a GREAT weekend!
Once again, we had another FULL weekend! Parker had a tee ball game on Saturday & we celebrated Father’s day with my in-laws on that same evening! My father-in-law travels a lot with his job & had to work yesterday! My mom & dad came over last night to celebrate. We cooked hamburgers on the grill & just spent the evening relaxing on our back patio. How did you spend your Father’s Day?!

I knew there was a Summer Mantel party going on at The Lettered Cottage today, and while I had my mom at my beckon call last night, I thought I would recruit her to help me put together my mantel display. I had started to throw a few things together, but wasn’t getting the look I was going for! However, with the help of my FABULOUS momma, we had things looking great in no time!!
ThisΒ  is what we came up with…..

What do you think?!
I’m loving the blues & greens in this mantel display!
It’s so bright & cheerful!!
We used the old window that I had used in my Christmas Mantel display last year & added some fabric that I already had on hand to the openings in the back to bring out some color! We just attached the fabric to the back side of the window using a little hot glue that way I can easily remove the fabric when I am tired of it.

I mentioned several weeks ago, that my hubby & I made a trip to IKEA while we were in Chicago. While we were there I scored these little cuties!

I bet I looked at these little plants 20 times while we were shopping before I finally put them in my cart! I loved them immediately, but was trying to decide where I would use them! Until now, they have just been sitting near my sink in the kitchen, but I love the way they look with this display!
We also added the Spring Birdhouses that I made a couple months ago. They go perfectly with the blue/green color scheme.

You may remember this little birdie from my Spring Mantel. I purchased him at JoAnn Fabrics a couple months back & gave him a couple coats of spray paint to make him a little more neutral.

This little sign was one that I already had….
It also, ties in nicely with the color scheme & also adds some layering to the display which I LOVE!
And last, but not least, I made a mossy monogram to hang from the window…

I just tore a piece of the scrap fabric that I had & we used it to hang the letter from the top of the window.
Here are a couple more shots of the display as a whole…..

Almost everything in this mantel was put together with things I already had laying around the house with the exception of the little potted plants that I purchased at IKEA! I love when I can create a new display in our home without having to spend very much money!!So, there you have it!

My BRIGHT & CHEERFUL Summer Mantel!!

  7. How fun to have your mom help you with your mantel. Green and blue is one of my favorite color combinations. I’m glad you brought home those plants from Ikea…they look great on the mantel. But I do the same thing! I’ll look at something forever before buying it if I’m not sure where I’m going to use it.
