Back Deck/Patio Reveal….

Hey Everyone!!
I hope your Monday is treating you well!

There are lots of fun parties going on in blogland today which has got my rear in gear! When was the last time you saw me make two posts in one day?!  Pretty impressive, eh?! In case you missed my Summer Mantel display that I posted earlier today, you can view it HERE.

Thrifty Decor Chick is having an outdoor spaces party tonight, so I thought it was about time that I get my back deck looking camera ready!! I spent most of my afternoon yesterday in the yard & prepping for this post. My poor hubby even mowed the grass & weed-eated for me on Father’s Day! Isn’t he the best?!
So, after working on this space for the past few weeks, I welcome you into backyard….

This is the view coming in from our gate on the side yard of our home. We have two seating areas on our deck. Both seating areas are updated with new patio chairs, new outdoor rugs, & new throw pillows.
The area of the deck that gets used the most is by far, our dining table & chairs.
We have had this table for a few years now. We purchased it at Garden Ridge & have gotten our money’s worth (& then some) out of this table. We had to purchase new chairs this year, as our old chairs were really starting to show some wear & tear. The new chairs were also purchased at Garden Ridge and were very inexpensive at just $14.99 a piece.
I added throw pillows to each chair just to bring in some more color to the back deck.
The pillows were purchased at Lowe’s at were on clearance for just $9.99 a piece. I love how they pull together the black in the furniture, the colors of the chairs, & the gray color we used to stain our deck.
I spruced up our table by adding some tableware along with a few other accessories….
These plates & place mats were purchased individually at Walmart for just $2.00 a piece.
I wanted to add some candle light to the table for dining at night time, so I purchased some inexpensive jelly jars at Dollar General, filled them with coffee beans, & added a little tealight to the inside of each.
The coffee beans not only tie in with the color scheme of the table, but they also give off a great aroma while the candles are burning.
I had a couple of little tin buckets which I spray painted to match the flower pots that I talked about in this post. I nailed a few holes in the bottom of the buckets & then added some potting soil & flowers to bring in even more color to the table.
Here is a view of the table from the yard….
The umbrella was purchased at Aldi’s for $29.99. The outdoor rugs under both seating areas are from Walmart & were $59.99 a piece. You can also catch a glimpse of our newly added shutters & window boxes this picture as well & see how much they add to the space!
Here is a closer look at our other seating area…..
Sorry about the kids’ playset in the background! It kinda takes away from the picture a little bit, but just keeping it real! The loveseat/bench & coffee table in this picture are from a set we purchased 4 years ago. The chairs that went with it, were the same chairs that went with our dining table. They too, were starting to show some wear & tear, so we replaced them with these wrought iron folding chairs from Walmart.
These chairs were $22.00 a piece. I am overall very happy with them! They match our other table perfectly & seem to be pretty solid & sturdy! I added throw pillows to each of these chairs as well, again, in an attempt to bring in some more color. These pillows were also purchased at Lowes, and again, were on clearance for $9.99 a piece.
A few more pillows were purchased & added to the loveseat/bench as well. The pillow with the birds on it is also from Lowes. It was $11.99.
I gave our flower posts a little makeover with some spray paint & added some bright & cheerful blooms to them!

The pots surround this seating area & make it a cozy area for having a cold drink & visiting with family/friends.
In an attempt to make everything color coordinate, I had no choice, but to give my little shed a fresh coat of paint too….

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that this little shed, used to be a shade of green. Now it is painted “Mark Twain House Ombra Gray”, a Valspar color from Lowes. The little “window” on the side is actually a mirror that gives the illusion of a window. I love this little shed & I love it even more now that it coordinates with the rest of the backyard! 🙂
We have a large flower bed in the backyard which surrounds our only tree….
This flower bed has been a work in progress over the last few years. The bushes are still small, but I look forward to the day when everything is mature….I think it’s going to be a beautiful space!

I also fill in the flower beds with annuals each summer. This year I planted bright pink vinca throughout. By the end of the summer they are always huge & add so much color to the space. I’ve also began adding some ornamental grasses in the flowerbed as well. I love that they come back year after year & the greenery that they add to the landscaping.
I always buy a couple of hanging baskets to hang from our back fence as well….
Just so you all can appreciate the space a little bit more (and because I love a good before & after), here is what the back of the house looked like just a little over a month ago….
And here is what it looks like now….

Quite the improvement, wouldn’t you say?!
I think it’s safe to say that all of the hard work has definitely paid off!! We are enjoying this space so much this year & hope to do a whole lot more entertaining this summer than usual!!!
Thanks so much for dropping by!!!
I hope you all enjoyed the tour!! 🙂
