Vintage Fan Makeover

Hey Y’all!

I hope you guys are having a great week!

I just wanted to drop in today to share a quick & easy makeover I did yesterday….

Antique Fan Makeover with Spray Paint

I have been wanting an old vintage fan for a while now. I don’t know what it is about them, but aren’t they the cutest?! I just love their shape & they have so much character!

I dreamed of creating a little vignette in my home where I could display a vintage fan…..
Yes, I. AM. PATHETIC!

Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I had this old fan given to me a few months back.

It didn’t work, but I really didn’t care! I mainly wanted it for decorative purposes only. So, I cut the old cord off the back of it & cleaned it up a bit. It was just a little dirty!

After it was all clean, I crushed on this little fan just a little bit more….

The original colors were great, but I knew they wouldn’t work in my home. I was really wanting to incorporate the fan in my master bedroom (which is currently in makeover mode.) So, I knew I was going to have to give it a litte update to make it work!
I wanted to pull out some of the darker colors in the aqua throw pillow I have laying on my bed….

So, I grabbed my favorite spray paint……Rust-Oleum’s Oil Rubbed Bronze.  I’ve used this spray paint on a few other projects & always LOVE the finish! You can check those projects out HERE and HERE.

After three coats, I had a “new” old fan! 🙂

I decided to throw together a little vignette for the purpose of this post. I working on styling this little dresser in my bedroom & I’m not sure if I’m completely happy with the way it looks, but to reveal my little fan, I thought it worked just fine.

I’m sure I’ll make a few changes to this dresser before the big master bedroom reveal….that’s just what I do! I’m always tweaking things until I get them exactly the way I want them. Sometimes it happens over the course of a couple days, sometimes it takes me a couple weeks!

So, that’s it! My “new” old vintage fan….

  1. Love this fan makeover! I have a little vintage fan and it’s one of my favorite things. I can’t wait to see your bedroom makeover! I know it’s going to be stunning. Where did you get that greenery from? I love it! Hope you are having a great week!

  2. I’m TOTALLY crushing on your fan!! I’m trying to think of where I was, just the other day and saw a fan like this, sitting in a dark corner. I actually wondered if they’d think I was nuts to ask for it! Now I’m kicking myself!!! Thanks for sharing <3

  3. I typically crush on most things vintage or antique, this fan being one of them. It’s super cute!!

  4. I love your fan makeover and I have the same situation going on. I purchased a working vintage fan from a garage sale for $15. I have cleaned it up but I think it might work better in our master bedroom makeover if I paint it. Just not sure but like you I just want it in a vignette so bad!

  5. Gotta love spray paint! Your fan still looks vintage – only tidier!!

  6. I would have bought you a new fan for that old vintage looking fan 🙁

  12. Love this, Tonya! I am looking for a fan too for our master bedroom redo. We found one a week ago at antique store for a killer deal BUT it had a name written with marker on it that I wasn’t sure would come off. My husband said just spray paint it but I thought that might ruin the “vintageness” of it. Now I wish I had bought it and had the guts to just paint it. 😉 Hope I find another one soon 🙂
