Updating Existing Furniture with New Hardware (Master Bedroom Makeover Preview)

Hey friends!

I have something exciting to share with y’all today!!

The master bedroom makeover is officially underway!! And we’ve been making MAJOR progress!!

I did a whole lot of painting this past weekend and have been making quite a few purchases for the room with some money I got for Christmas!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so excited about how things are coming together & I can’t wait to share the whole room with you soon!!

We actually made the first BIG step in this room makeover when we were finishing up with the hallway bathroom back in November!ย  Things were just a little crazy around here for awhile & then Christmas came & went….and well, what can I say….I’m just now getting around to blogging about this room!
If you remember, I first blogged about the master bedroom HERE. I showed you some pictures of the room in its current state & shared some inspiration for how I really wanted the room to look! One thing that I mentioned in that post was that I was growing tired of the our furniture. I still really love our bed, but the dresser, nightstand & armoire were in need of a little update. So, this past weekend, I gave them that update with some new hardware!

You’re getting a little sneak peek of the room in these pics! See the plank wall in the background?! It’s my new favorite! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is a full shot of what the bedroom looked like just a couple months back….

See what I’m saying about the hardware on the furniture?! The knobs were just so BLAH & they just blended right in…I was ready for something new!

We all know that hardware CAN be expensive. I looked at several different options when trying to find new knobs for my furniture, many of which ranged in price from $2-$4.50 per knob. I needed 19 knobs total and because I had so many other NEEDS & WANTS for this room, I really didn’t want to spend a ton of money on new hardware.

So, I made a trip to Target & found THESE…..

A package of 10 knobs, in the color I was wanting, for just $16.99! Booyah!! ๐Ÿ™‚

If you’ve never switched out hardware on furniture or cabinets before, it’s really super easy. Just unscrew the old knobs off, and screw the new ones on!

Here is a look at our dresser….

And our armoire that holds our TV….

Pay no attention to that little vignette above the armoire. That stuff was left over from the old room. Some new accessories will be making their way to that spot very soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

I already showed you a picture of the nightstand, but since it’s my favorite of the three pieces, I’ll show it to you again.

I forgot to take a “before” shot of this one….I was a little too excited about putting the new knobs on! ๐Ÿ™‚ Do you like my new lamp? It was a Target find as well! The little boxwood that sits on top of the books is from TJ Maxx.

I’m gonna leave you with one more little sneak peek of the room. Mostly, because I’m sure you are thinking that everything is looking pretty CREAM at this point!! Not too worry, there will be some color in this room too!

I’m planning on adding the majority of that color with all of the room accessories!

Hopefully, I’ll be able to finish things up in this room over the next couple weeks. Can’t wait to show you how it all comes together! ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you have any room makeovers on your to-do list in 2013?

I’d LOVE to hear about them! Leave me a comment & tell me what you have planned!

I hope you all have a lovely day! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Your new hardware looks GREAT!

  3. Wow Tonya, everything looks great so far, I can’t wait to see the full reveal! Have a great day.

  4. LOVE the new hardware, Tonya! Amazing what a difference those simple changes can make. I’ve got a guest room makeover and laundry room makeover on my radar this year (and lots of other smaller projects, too)… wish me luck!

PS — are you going to Haven this year? Bought my ticket on New Year’s Day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Wow, new knobs make such a big difference! I’m looking forward to the full reveal of your room. We are currently renting, so a full on makeover is out of the question, so I’d say we are doing more freshening up than anything else. My kids’ rooms are in serious need of cuteness so plans are underway to hang pictures, change bedding and declutter their toys.

  6. This is lovely! & very similary to what I have planned for my next home decor project in 2013. I’m going to be redeocorating my bedroom, I don’t have any room for a seperate study room, so I need to have a desk in there too. So my main aim is to make it a cool, calm, clutter free room, that has a clear seperation between where I work and where I chill out. I chose grey, cream, white & silver as a colour scheme. I hope to use different textures, so that the bland colour scheme looks a little less “blurghhh” lol.

I love what you’ve done, it’s given me the inspiration I needed! Hopefully I’ll be posting my little makeover by February over at my blog (www.memystyleandi.com). Thanks for sharing! xx

  7. Wow, I can’t wait to see what you have in store for the rest of the room. On my 2013 room re-do list is my master bedroom. . . I’ve been putting it off. So much so that I’ve painted every room except for it and the main hallway. 2013 will be my year to tackle this room renovation!

  8. How would Target knobs look on oak kitchen cabinets? Hubs painted them all oiled bronze which is wearing off. Looked funny with brass hinges showing. My kitchen is a disaster…wallpaper all over…have you painted over wallpaper? Tried to remove it in half-bath and shredded the sheetrock. Thinking now of bead-board paneling 1/2 bath.

  9. Love it! Can’t wait to see that Plank Wall!!!

  10. Luv the BIG impact something as small as hardware can impart. We are also in the process of tweaking the Master. Will be revealing that pretty soon.
    Thanks for inspiring and sharing.
    Cheers, Gee

  11. Tonya,

Love how the hardware makes such a big difference! Can’t wait to see the rest of the remodel! I think that we are going to be working on some of the bedrooms upstairs!

  12. Looking so fresh and pretty. The new hardware really transformed the furniture. The sneak peeks have me intrigued…can’t wait to see the full reveal.

  13. The knobs were a great idea because most of the knobs on the furniture at my place has tampered and going to replace them with these knobs.

  14. Looking good! Love the new hardware and Target lamp. My master bedroom is high on my redo list this year too!

  15. wow, changing out the hardware made a huge difference!! made the furniture look so mych more updated and cottagey. love your planked wall in there – can’t wait to see the whole room done

Our Master bedroom is high up on the list to redo this year. lots of decisions to make, need to redo some furniture, DIY a headboard, make curtains, paint and would love to add some sort of molding treatment in there. really want it DONE! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Love it! Sometimes it’s the little touches that make all the difference.

  17. What did you use for the boards on the wall? I’m thinking about doing something similar in our room but I’m debating on the type of wood. Was it expensive?
